Joe Stack: Hero?

 or,

This Is Why We Need Tax Reform NOW!

As many of you are aware, a frustrated man named Joe Stack burned down his own home and flew his plane into a building housing IRS offices in Austin, TX today. He left a "manifesto" explaining his actions in a blog on his company's website, which has been reprinted in it's entirety in various places on the internet.

Now, I'm not suggesting what he did was RIGHT. But, I can understand how it might have been NECESSARY.

Let me explain. I don't advocate anyone flying anything to any building. I also don't advocate the murder, or attempted murder, of innocent people.  But in this case, I would like to point out that IRS employees aren't necessarily "innocent". They know who they work for, and what their organization does to truly innocent people....people who work hard, pay their taxes, and are penalized because they don't understand the convoluted, garbled, and contradictory mess that we call the "tax code".

I would imagine that since the day that a federal income tax was forced upon us, there have been people that did not approve. And rightfully so. I am certain that that feeling is growing in this country now, due to our government's continued disregard to the warnings we have given them to STOP SPENDING MONEY. I believe the time has long passed that we cut off their allowance.

If it were possible, I would not pay one more dime in taxes until our government changed it's policies and adopted a flat tax. Unfortunately, almost every transaction I enter into on a daily basis has some form of tax built into it. I would have to work for cash under the table, and basically barter for any goods or services I needed, to avoid paying taxes.

I understand WHY Joe Stack did what he allegedly did. Was he "nuts" to burn down his home and fly an airplane into IRS offices? Maybe. Is the government guilty of creating the circumstances that led him to that decision? ABSOLUTELY.

My hope is that the actions of Joe Stack will awaken our country, and lead other citizens to protest our current tax system vehemently, and that his act of rebellion will open eyes in Washington to the will of the people.....but I am afraid that the reality is that Joe Stack will be labeled a "nutjob", and that any "tax protest", peaceful or otherwise, will be classified as "domestic terrorism"..........and that it may be too late to save ourselves.

The labeling has already begun.....several "news" sources are comparing Joe Stack's beliefs to the Tea Party movement.......

Caution

James: I'm not trying to diminish what you have written, but what bothers me is this "nutjob" was a bass player....or, is it the other way around?

Of course..

....he was a bass player....there's no way a DRUMMER could have pulled that off!
And, had he been a lead singer, he would have made sure he stayed alive to take credit!

"Guns don't kill people...Chuck Norris kills people."

Ha Ha Ha!

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha... etc.

government reform

James, I completly agree with you on all fronts. I almost think its time for a change of government. The spending and taxation are almost obscene. Flat tax is the way to go.
They are debating a 6% national sales tax.
I do not condone the way Joe Stack carried out his wishes, but I understand his thinking. And I believe thats just the beginning of more to come!

VAT

They, meaning the politicians in Washington who are simply UNABLE to stop (or even slow down)spending, are also considering a European style Value Added Tax. If you're not familiar with this abomination, "google" it!

I'll bet our Canadian friends Reggie and Brenda can tell us how much they love the VAT in their country.....

"Guns don't kill people...Chuck Norris kills people."

Real Definition

V.A.T.: Very Assinine Tactic. Business doesn't cause people to go broke; government intervention does.

We miss Rudi's!

I just wanted to write a little and let you all know that we (Russell, James, Vanessa and Diane) do indeed miss Rudi's and all that went with it!
Whenever you find yourself dealing with other people's time schedules, you just have to calm down and wait. This is NOT a position anyone would choose to be in, but you have to deal with it on a business level.
We are still waiting for all the proverbial "ducks" to line up to move forward and re-open in a new location. When they do, we will work hard to complete the new Rudi's and have the grandest "Grand Opening" you've ever seen.
Don't get downhearted, depressed, nervous or even anxious about not having the place to go for great cheeseburgers, great milkshakes, GREAT COUNTRY MUSIC or even the great people you saw when you walked in the door! (that would be us)
We know that Nashville needs Rudi's and we will be back!!!

You never miss the water 'till the well runs dry...... When we DO re-open, we expect to see each and every one of your smiling faces.

OKAY? Well, then....OKAY!

Working on it

I'm actually working on that little project. The music, not the video. I'll need "James The Video Master" for that.

Home sick!!!

While listening to my ipod one of favorite songs just played and it's made me home sick. "Under Your Spell Again" by Diane Berry. If you haven't hear that song with earphones you need to do so, it's beautiful.
